The Falcons have signed center Alex Stepanovich.  The 26-year old hasn’t lived up to his ability thus far in his career and he projects better as a backup for the Falcons.  He played in 12 games (4 starts) last season for the Bengals.  He has now played in 42 games (34 starts) in his 4-year NFL career.

The Falcons have signed Michael Turner who will take over as the feature back.  He got six years for $34.5 million bucks.  Turner played in all 16 games last season for the Chargers and he carried the ball 71 times for 316 yards (4.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also has caught 4 passes for 16 yards (4.0 avg).  Turner has now played in 59 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 228 times for 1,257 yards (5.5 ypc) with 6 TD runs.  He also has caught 11 passes for 71 yards (6.5 avg).  This was a good move for the Falcons who had trouble running the football last season.

The Falcons have signed safety Erik Coleman to a 4-year, $10 million dollar contract.  Coleman played in 15 games for the Jets last season and he made 50 tackles.  Coleman has now played in 63 games in his NFL career and he has made 372 tackles, defensed 23 passes, has 2 sacks and 7 interceptions.  The Falcons are hoping that Coleman can bounce back from the worst season of the career because they need the help.

The Atlanta Falcons sign safety Von Hutchins

Von Hutchins only stands 5’9″, 181 pounds but he plays much bigger than that.  He played in 16 games last season for the Texans and he made 95 tackles, defensed 6 passes, had 1/2 a sack, forced 1 fumble and he intercepted 1 pass.  He has now played in 38 games in his NFL career and he has made 152 tackles, defensed 9 passes, has 1/2 a sack, forced 1 fumble and he’s intercepted 2 passes including one that he returned for a TD.  This was a nice move for the Falcons who need help at the back of the defense.  Hutchins can also play CB in a pinch.
