The Falcons have signed fullback Corey McIntyre.  McIntyre did not play in the NFL last season.  He has now played in 19 games in his NFL career and he has caught 1 pass for 10 yards (10.0 avg) and he also has returned 3 kickoffs for 47 yards (15.7 avg).  McIntyre is a decent blocker and he is a good special teams player so this was a nice little signing for the Falcons.

The Falcons have signed 38-year old Jason Elam to a 4-year, $9 million dollar contract.  This was an important signing as the Falcons haven’t had a real kicker in years and it has hurt them a lot at times.  The only concern with Elam is how much loft his kicks will have now that he’s kicking in a neutral elevation instead of in Denver.  Elam played in all 16 games for the Broncos last season and he made 27 of 31 FGs (87.1%) and all 33 of his extra points for 114 points.  Elam has now played in 236 games in his NFL career and he has made 395 of 490 FGs (80.6%) and he also has made 601 of 604 career extra points.  Elam has scored 1,786 points in his NFL career.

The Atlanta Falcons trade CB DeAngelo Hall to the Raiders

The Falcons have traded their top cornerback, DeAngelo Hall, to the Raiders for a 2nd round pick in 2008 and a 5th round pick in 2009.  Hall played in 16 games last season for the Falcons and he made 70 tackles, defensed 16 passes, forced a fumble and intercepted 5 passes.  Hall finished his career with the Falcons having played in 57 games and he made 230 tackles, defensed 48 passes, had 1/2 a sack, forced 3 fumbles and he intercepted 17 passes which he returned for 435 yards and 2 TDs.  The Falcons wanted to get rid of Hall because of the way he acted last season and the Raiders accepted him with open arms.  At least the Falcons got a nice pick in this year’s draft for Hall.
