The Falcons looked like they didn’t want to play this game last night.  Matt Ryan was in and out of the game in a hurry completing his only pass attempt for 13 yards.  D.J. Shockley looked awful again completing 2 of 6 passes for 15 yards with a interception.  John Parker Wilson was so-so completing 13 of 19 passes for 80 yards.  Thomas Brown led the way in the running game for the Falcons with 39 yards on 11 carries (3.5 ypc).  WR Troy Bergeron led the way for the Falcons in the passing game with 23 yards on 3 grabs (7.7 avg).  The Falcons finished up with only 175 total yards in this game (83 rushing, 92 passing)!

DE Kroy Biermann led the way for the Falcons on D with 6 tackles and a sack.  The Ravens finished up with 276 total yards in this game (72 rushing, 204 passing).  The Falcons finished the pre-season with a 2-2 record.

The Atlanta Falcons have released 27-year old DT Jason Jefferson.  Jefferson played in 13 games for the Falcons last season and he made 12 tackles.  Jefferson has played in parts of three seasons in the NFL appearing in 28 games in which he has made 25 tackles.  This is not much of a loss for the Falcons.

The Falcons have acquired 27-year old CB Tye Hill from the Rams for a 7th round pick.  Hill played in 4 games for the Rams last season and he made 20 tackles, defensed 2 passes and he forced 1 fumble.  He played three years with the Rams appearing in 28 games in which he made 105 tackles, defensed 16 passes, forced 1 fumble and he had 4 interceptions.  This was a good trade for the Falcons as a 7th round pick usually isn’t worth too much in the NFL.  Hill should provide depth in the backfield for the Falcons in 2009.

The Falcons have released 29-year old TE Ben Hartsock.  Hartsock played in 11 games for the Falcons last season and he caught 3 passes for 26 yards (8.7 avg).  He has now played in 56 games in his 5-year NFL career catching 27 passes for 273 yards (10.1 avg).  The Falcons don’t need Hartsock around anymore with Tony Gonzalez in town.

The Falcons have released 28-year old CB Von Hutchins.  He did not play last season due to injury for the Falcons.  Hutchins has played in 38 games in his NFL career and he has made 149 tackles, has defensed 8 passes, has 1/2 a sack, forced 1 fumble and he has intercepted 2 passes (1 returned for a TD).  If Hutchins is healthy he should be able to find another job.
