The Falcons played a very solid football game today to clinch home field advantage in the NFC Playoffs.  Matt Ryan was efficient in this game as he completed 22 of 32 passes for 236 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Chris Redman finished up this game by completing 4 of 6 passes for 20 yards.  Michael Turner rushed for only 67 yards on 17 carries (3.9 ypc) with a TD run and he also lost a fumble.  Jason Snelling only rushed for 17 yards on 8 carries (2.1 ypc) today but he also added 3 catches for 26 yards (8.7 avg).  Roddy White (6 rec, 62 yards, TD), Tony Gonzalez (6 rec, 53 yards, TD) and Michael Jenkins (5 rec, 52 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Falcons today.  The Falcons finished up with 99 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 38 passes for 253 yards as they had possession of the ball for 35:30!

The defense was outstanding overall in this game despite giving up 79 yards rushing on 2 carries (39.5 ypc) to the WRs of the Panthers.  Safety William Moore (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit), CB Brent Grimes (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed), CB Dunta Robinson (3 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and LB Mike Peterson (FR) led the way for the Falcons’ on D in this game.  The Panthers finished up with 137 yards rushing on 19 carries (7.2 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 34 passes for 154 yards.  Falcons’ return man Eric Weems also pitched in today with a 55-yard punt return for a TD.  The Falcons finish the regular season with a 13-3 record as they are the Champions of the NFC South.

The Falcons battled hard last night before falling a tad short in the end.  Matt Ryan didn’t have his best game last night as he completed 15 of 29 passes for 148 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 26 yards (6.5 ypc) last night.  Michael Turner also had a rough night with 48 yards rushing on 17 carries (2.8 ypc).  Jason Snelling only had 1 carry for 1 yard and he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards (11.5 avg).  WRs Roddy White (3 rec, 43 yards) and Michael Jenkins (5 rec, 40 yards) had so-so games for the Falcons last night too.  The Falcons finished up with 75 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 29 passes for 140 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 23:25.

LB Curtis Lofton (11 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), safety Thomas DeCoud (9 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and CB Dunta Robinson (8 tackles and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Falcons’ D in this game.  DEs John Abraham (3 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 2 QB hits and 1 interception) and Chauncey Davis (an interception that he returned 26 yards for a TD) also made some HUGE plays in this game for the Falcons.  The Saints finished up with 72 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 35 of 49 passes for 296 yards.  The Falcons are now 12-3 on the year and they can win the NFC South next weekend with a win over the Panthers or a Bucs win over the Saints.

The Falcons and Seahawks were tied at 10-10 at one point in the second quarter last night.  The Falcons then rolled off 24 straight points to end the competitive part of this game.  Matt Ryan was solid as usual as he completed 20 of 35 passes for 174 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT.  Michael Turner led the way for the Falcons on the ground in this game with 25 carries on 82 yards (3.3 ypc).  Jason Snelling only rushed for 6 yards on 4 carries (1.5 ypc) but he also caught 4 passes for 15 yards (3.8 avg) with a TD grab.  WRs Roddy White (7 rec, 65 yards, TD) and Michael Jenkins (3 rec, 48 yards, TD) led the way for the Falcons in the passing game.  The Falcons finished up with 98 yards rushing on 37 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 35 passes for 168 yards.

The defense gave an impressive team effort against the Seahawks.  LB Curtis Lofton (7 tackles), safety Thomas DeCoud (6 tackles), safety William Moore (5 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 interception) and CB Brent Grimes (3 tackles, 5 passes defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Falcons’ on D in this game.  DT Jonathan Babineaux recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD!  The Seahawks finished up with 91 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 33 passes for 143 yards.  The Falcons are now 12-2 on the season and they have a 2-game lead on the Saints in the NFC South.

The Falcons were in control of this game pretty much the whole way.  Matt Ryan completed 20 of 34 passes for 227 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Michael Turner led the way on the ground for the Falcons in this game with 28 carries for 112 yards (4.0 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  WR Roddy White (8 rec, 79 yards), Harry Douglas (1 rec, 46 yards) and Tony Gonzalez (4 rec, 28 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Falcons yesterday.  The Falcons finished up with 36 carries for 127 yards (3.5 ypc) in this game and they also completed 20 of 34 passes for 200 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:50.

Safety Thomas DeCoud (9 tackles) and LB Mike Peterson (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 INT) led the way for the Falcons’ D in this game.  CB Dunta Robinson (INT) and DEs John Abraham (2 sacks) and Kroy Biermann (2 sacks) also made some huge plays in this game.  The Panthers finished up with 212 yards rushing on 28 carries (7.6 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 25 passes for 76 yards.  The Falcons are now 11-2 on the year.

The Falcons were down 24-14 in the 4th quarter before they made another big comeback to prevail in the end.  After the Bucs took at 24-14 lead in this game, Eric Weems returned the kickoff 102 yards for a TD to cut the lead to 3.  Then Matt Ryan fired a TD pass to Michael Jenkins with less than 4 minutes in the game to seal this win with the help of the D.  Matt Ryan was not at his best in this game as he completed 18 of 36 passes for 205 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs.  Michael Turner did a lot of the heavy lifting in the running game as he carried the ball 24 times for 88 yards (3.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Roddy White (7 rec, 74 yards), FB Ovie Mughelli (3 rec, 32 yards, TD) and WR Michael Jenkins (3 rec, 30 yards, TD) led the way through the air for the Falcons.  The Falcons finished up with 85 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 36 passes for 205 yards as they had possession of the ball for 28:00.

LB Mike Peterson (10 tackles), LB Curtis Lofton (9 tackles) and CB Brent Grimes (7 tackles, 6 passes defensed and a interception) led the way for the Falcons on D in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 151 yards rushing on 29 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 39 passes for 174 yards.  The Falcons are now 10-2 as they still have the best record in the NFC.

The Packers tied this game with 56 seconds left setting the game up for O.T. right?  Not with “Matty Ice” in charge of things.  Eric Weems returned the Packers’ kickoff 40 yards and 15 yards was tacked on due to a facemask penalty on linebacker Matt Wilhelm of the Packers.  Ryan started with the ball on the Packers’ 49-yard line.  Ryan then completed 4 passes to set up Matt Bryant for a 47-yard field goal which he made with 9 seconds left sealing yet another home win for the Falcons! 

Matt Ryan completed 24 of 28 passes for 198 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs in this game as he was dinking and dunking.  Michael Turner led the way on the ground for the Falcons in this game with 110 yards rushing on 23 carries (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Jason Snelling pitched in with 7 yards rushing on 4 carries (1.8 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 32 yards (8.0 avg).  TE Tony Gonzalez (6 rec, 51 yards, TD) and WR Roddy White (5 rec, 49 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Falcons yesterday.  The Falcons finished up with 117 yards rushing on 27 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 28 passes for 178 yards.

CB Brent Grimes (7 tackles), CB Brian Williams (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) and safety Thomas DeCoud (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Falcons’ D in this game.  The Packers finished up with 77 yards rushing on 23 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 35 passes for 341 yards.  The Falcons are now 9-2 on the year.

The Rams had a 17-16 lead with 11:56 left in the third quarter before the Falcons got serious rolling off the last 18 points in this game.  Matt Ryan was solid in completing 26 of 39 passes for 253 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Michael Turner led the way on the ground for the Falcons in this game with 131 yards rushing on 28 carries (4.7 ypc) with a TD run.  Roddy White (9 rec, 83 yards), Michael Jenkins (5 rec, 58 yards), Tony Gonzalez (4 rec, 46 yards), Justin Peelle (2 rec, 14 yards, TD) and Brian Finneran (1 rec, 12 yards, TD) all pitched in for the Falcons in the passing game.  The Falcons finished up with 138 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 39 passes for 253 yards as they had possession of the ball for 35:55.

The defense put up a decent effort in this game but they were helped by the offense who were hogging the ball.  The Rams finished up with 71 yards rushing on 12 carries (5.9 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 42 passes for 233 yards.  The Falcons are  now 8-2 on the year.

Atlanta Falcons 26, Baltimore Ravens 21

When Todd Heap scored a TD with 1:05 left in the game to give the Ravens a 21-20 lead, the Falcons looked like they were in trouble.  But, that’s when Matt Ryan went to work as it only took him 45 seconds to lead the Falcons on a 80-yard TD drive to cap a very impressive home win last night.  Matt Ryan completed 32 of 50 passes for 316 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 5 yards last night.  Michael Turner had a tough night with only 39 yards rushing on 17 carries (2.3 ypc).  Jason Snelling pitched in with 3 carries for 11 yards (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 56 yards (9.3 avg) with 1 TD grab last night.  Roddy White was outstanding last night as he caught 12 passes for 138 yards (11.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs including the game winner with only 20 seconds left in this game.  WR Michael Jenkins (5 rec, 48 yards) and TE Tony Gonzalez (4 rec, 38 yards) also helped out in the passing game for the Falcons last night.  The Falcons finished up with 60 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 32 of 50 passes for 302 yards as they had possession of the football for 35:09 in this game.

The defense was great in the first half last night but they stumbled after halftime.  LB Curtis Lofton led the way for the Falcons’ D last night with 10 tackles.  CB Brent Grimes had 6 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception but he also got torched for 2 TDs.  LBs Stephen Nicolas (6 tackles) and Coy Wire (fumble recovery) also helped out on D for the Falcons last night.  The Ravens finished up with 116 yards rushing on 21 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 34 passes for 204 yards.  The Falcons are now 7-2 on the season as they remain in first place in the NFC South.

The Falcons held off the pesky Buccaneers yesterday in a hard fought battle in Atlanta.  Matt Ryan was solid as usual in completing 24 of 36 passes for 235 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Michael Turner led the way on the ground for the Falcons in this game with 24 carries for 107 yards (4.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Tony Gonzalez (8 rec, 72 yards), Michael Jenkins (2 rec, 55 yards) and Roddy White (4 rec, 49 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Falcons yesterday.  Little used TE Michael Palmer pitched in with 2 grabs for 11 yards (5.5 avg) with a TD grab in this game.  The Falcons finished up with 130 yards rushing on 33 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 36 passes for 235 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:06.

The defense was very solid in this game for the Falcons.  LB Stephen Nicolas (8 tackles), CB Brent Grimes (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and LB Mike Peterson (5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 2 passes defensed and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Falcons’ D yesterday.  DT Jonathan Babineaux pitched in with a interception in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 96 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 22 passes for 182 yards yesterday.  The Falcons did have a blip on special teams yesterday as Bucs’ WR Michael Spurlock returned a kickoff 89 yards for a TD to keep them in the game.  The Falcons are now 6-2 on the season and they are sitting on the top of the NFC South.

Atlanta Falcons 39, Cincinnati Bengals 32

The Falcons had to hold off the Bengals today in a old fashioned shootout.  Matt Ryan was very efficient today as he completed 24 of 33 passes for 299 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT.  Michael Turner was also very busy with 121 yards rushing on 23 carries (5.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards (11.5 avg).  Jason Snelling only rushed for 4 yards on 5 carries (0.8 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 15 yards (3.8 avg) today.  Roddy White had a monster game for the Falcons today with 11 catches for 201 yards (18.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He he lose a fumble to Adam “Pac Man” Jones that he returned for a 59 yard TD but that still didn’t put much of a damper on his day.  Michael Jenkins pitched in with 3 grabs for 25 yards in this game.  The Falcons finished up with 153 yards on 30 carries (5.1 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 33 passes for 299 yards today.

The defense had all kinds of issues trying to stop the Bengals today.  CB Chris Owens (12 tackles), S Erik Coleman (9 tackles) and CB Brian Williams (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Falcons on D today.  The Bengals finished up with 84 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 36 of 50 passes for 385 yards today.  The Falcons are 5-2 on the season and they are sitting on top in the NFC South right now.
